Yes, that’s right, I said it: the Hallmark Christmas movie marathon is my secret little luxury during the holidays; my escape when the endless tasks of the day are done, the kids are asleep, a nice glass of cold white wine awaits with the perfect comfy blanket.
You are probably saying Alisa is a cheese ball and those movies are terrible. But, I don’t care. Honestly, I can’t stay away from these holiday flicks. In fact, I love everything about them. As far as I can tell, all that these movies are meant to do is make people feel good, and couldn’t we all use a bit more of that? I can always count on the main themes: a stressed-out businesswoman has an unexpected Christmas romance when she meets a charming cowboy while snowed in on a treacherous mountain, or some prince of a small sovereign country in Europe that we’ve never heard of falls in love with a commoner and makes her his princess. It’s nice to feel a huge smile spread over your face when every couple falls in love and kisses under the mistletoe. Love always saves the day!
The movies may not be realistic, but they make us feel hopeful, warm and fuzzy inside – sort of like Santa Claus, right? I have to go, One Starry Christmas is coming on soon and I think it involves a cowboy. True Confession.
